UW-Madison's Entomology Graduate Student Association and Insect Ambassadors hosted a Lakeshore Nature Preserve Summer Series, where I did an outdoor training on the fireflies of Wisconsin in July 2023.
Measuring a lightning bug as part of the Firefly Atlas. The Atlas is a community science project by the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, and I incorporate their resources and protocols in outreach events.
In June 2025, the UW-Madison Lakeshore Preserve hosted a BioBlitz, which included a full day of outreach presentations to guide community members through surveys for all kinds of plants and animals. I led a workshop and identification walk on fireflies of Wisconsin, though it was a bit too early in the year to see much. Check out the Bioblitz iNaturalist project!
